| Ben Stoner Antiques specializes in the sale of well priced and individually selected British, Continental & Australian antique furniture and decorative items. BSA provides the highest level of conservation and restoration of antique & fine furniture and objects. At BSA a great emphasis is placed on the ability to retain the integrity of furniture and objects by focusing on sympathetic traditional methods. Ben started dealing and restoring furniture part time in 1982 whilst at university in Sydney. By the late 1980's antiques had become an all consuming passion. His career path now firmly decided for him and wanting to improve his knowledge and skills in 1991 he trained at the renowned West Dean College in West Sussex, England. Following this he was awarded a grant to undertake study in fine and decorative arts at Christies Education, South Kensington in association with The Royal Society of the Arts, London. He then worked 'in the trade' for a number of London dealers including Godson & Coles, before returning to Australia in late 1995 to establish his own business. Ben Stoner Antiques has since grown to support a small and enthusiastic team dedicated to carrying out excellent work in a well equipped workshop. In late 2005 Ben Stoner Antiques expanded to 3 floors of the centrally located 24 Queen St, Chippendale warehouse ("the other Queen street”).Ground floor; stock and store rooms, first floor conservation and restoration workshop, 2nd floor showroom. Ben is a member and service provider of the Antique Dealer's Association of Australia and he has been a committee member of the ADAA NSW Chapter since 2002 He is also on the committee of The Furniture History Society of Australasia. Ben has regularly given talks on furniture and demonstrations on furniture restoration as part of the FHS and ADAA calendar of events. |
