Chinese Lacquer Box
Chinoiserie lacquer box for the export market now in two parts. The inside which now has a perspex cover, is made up of a fitted paper lining in two halves and has been very skilfully and beautifully decorated in watercolours. The image depicts two court ladies sitting on red stools at a table conversing and having tea. A third lady has just come into the room. The lid is absolutely gorgeous too showing a walled garden, pagoda, boat and a number of people going about their lives, a child playing, two men at a table etc. Makes for a very special piece for your wall.
